چکیده

Upland Goose Chloephaga picta, Ashy-headed poliocephala and Ruddy-headed rubidiceps are endemic goose-like threatened birds of southern South America. This work aimed to study how sheldgeese distributed both temporally spatially characterize their habitat use in part breeding range Southern Argentina, a little-explored subpolar region. We conducted nine surveys between spring 2013 summer 2016 across maximum 235 km Santa Cruz 698 Tierra del Fuego per survey. recorded the presence non-breeding sheldgoose groups pairs. collected data at site-scale (~ 0.8 km2) extracted from geographic information systems for landscape-scale (5 analyses. 2396 containing one, two or three species, 788 pairs 102 solitary individuals. Does predation risk influence habitat use by northern redbelly dace Phoxinus eos at different spatial scales?

This study investigated the relationship between spatial variations in predation risk and abundance of northern redbelly dace Phoxinus eos at both macroscale (littoral v. pelagic zones) and microscale (structured v. open water habitats in the littoral zone) of Canadian Shield lakes. Minnow traps were placed in both structured and open water habitats in the littoral zone of 13 Canadian Shield la...

Does tiger shark predation risk influence foraging habitat use by bottlenose dolphins at multiple spatial scales?

Prey availability and predation risk are important determinants of habitat use, but their importance may vary across spatial scales. In many marine systems, predator and prey distributions covary at large spatial scales, but do no coincide at small spatial scales. We investigated the influences of prey abundance and tiger shark (Galeocerdo cuvier ) predation risk on Indian Ocean bottlenose dolp...

Dung beetle movements at two spatial scales

To understand the dynamics of spatially structured populations, we need to know the level of movements at different spatial scales. This paper reports on Aphodius dung beetle movements at two scales: movements between dung pats within pastures, and movements between pastures. First, I test an assumption common to many recent models of spatially structured populations – that the probability of a...

Phytochemistry predicts habitat selection by an avian herbivore at multiple spatial scales.

Animal habitat selection is a process that functions at multiple, hierarchically. structured spatial scales. Thus multi-scale analyses should be the basis for inferences about factors driving the habitat selection process. Vertebrate herbivores forage selectively on the basis of phytochemistry, but few studies have investigated the influence of selective foraging (i.e., fine-scale habitat selec...
